Allen Public Library Exhibit

We were contacted by the City of Allen Public Library to display our art through the
month of June. We selected a retrospective of our materials from 1999 through a
sample of latest pieces. If you are in the area, the exhibit will be on display through June
26, 2007. Here are some shots of the setup.

This gives us the opportunity to get some of our pieces out on display to see in person. At first I was a little concerned looking at the initial display space that we would have enough material to fill the showcase. After a meeting with Mary Ahten, the Service rep, she encouraged us to dig all the stuff out of the archives and bring it out.
We also are also happy to be able to show some of our other models like the windmill, the wizard's tower and the model spaceship I made for the escape short film.

This is also the first chance to see some of Vicky's new paintings on pendants and feathers before we pack them up for DragonCon later in the year.

In other news:
We have also been able to arrange our schedule to make it possible to attend GenCon Indy this year! We will be traveling along with the Reaper Miniatures crew and will be spending a good deal of time with them for promotions. I will also have the opportunity spend a little time with the Impact! Miniatures guys and am looking forward to seeing what entries they get for the painting contest. Hope to see some of at the show!

More link swapping.

There is another little spotlight on my work over at Needle and Clay. This is a very cool blog showcasing one-of-a-kind dolls on the web.

Also be sure to check out the blog list in the right hand column under "Other Artists" to check out some more great work.

Survived ReaperCon!

Well I can safely say both Vicky and I had an utter blast at the con last weekend. So much so it almost took us all week to recover. I wanted to thank all the folks that signed up for my classes, hopefully they gleaned a little knowledge between the spider attack, digging the splinter out of my finger, tracking down plastic bases, hunting for my lost toolkit and breaking the lamp out of my putty oven. I also wanted to say it was terrific opportunity to meet with all of the cool fans who took the time to come up and hang out in the "talent pool" to chat with us and visit during the show. We also had a couple of new guys join us in the sculptor's corral this go-around; Tom Mason and Tre Manor and it was great to get to spend a little time hanging out with them, too.

The real treats came on Monday after the official con had wrapped up. The sculptors took a field trip to see the Mustangs in Las Colinas. Werner took several shots with his spiffy digital SLR and I'm hoping he will post those soon. Afterward we trekked over to Anne Foerster's place for a feast-de-resistance. John Bonnot cooked out A TON of food.

After we took advantage of snacking again Gene Van Horne improvised a game of shuffleboard by sliding bottle caps across the large table in the gaming room. We managed to rotate through most of the sculptors and a few painters in a teams event. However, due to the vast amount of bottle caps that we had at our disposal, I couldn't tell you which of us was the better bottlecap shuffleboardists, but it certainly wasn't me.

Anyway, it was a fantastic weekend and I hope everyone made a safe and uneventful trip home. Plans are grinding away now to see if we can actually squeeze in a trip to GenCon between IDEX and Dragon*Con. We must be nuts!

I just opened a new gallery at deviantART.com to post some of my sculptures. I've been busy surfing the galleries there and adding stuff to my favorites and friends when I really should be sculpting and getting ready for classes. Oh well, we all deal with stress in our own ways. Head on over and check it out.
